Alas, My Fair Powerbook, I Knew It Well

After almost 3 years of constant use for home and work, more than 7000 photos processed, countless email sent and received, a year and a half of church service recordings, and various security assessments performed, my wonderful laptop has died. More accurately, the hard drive inside it crashed on my flight to Phoenix, AZ yesterday morning. I heard the infamous click of death and powered it down immediately for fear of doing irreparable damage to the device. Thankfully, any fairly small files (like documents) are already replicated to other computers using a free, multiplatform utility called FolderShare. As for the big stuff (like photos), I was in the process of using Mozy to back it all up but some problems were preventing it from completing. If only I could have resolved those issues in time!

The data on it may be completely lost forever, but at this point, I am hoping for the best. I will try some sophisticated (read: shots in the dark) data retrieval techniques when I get home. I will let you know what happens!
